We also contribute fundamental biological information through morphological and ecological studies. LepNet: The Lepidoptera of North America Network. Zootaxa 4247 (1): 073–077. DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4247.1.10 The paper describes the LepNet Project, a digitization effort launched to mobilize biodiversity data from 3 million specimens of butterflies and moths in United States natural history collections. The overall goal is to transform Lepidoptera specimen data into readily available digital formats to foster global research in taxonomy, ecology and evolutionary biology. Of note: The UGCA does accept interns. Their main responsibilities are preparing and databasing insect specimens.
